Boscola, Mensch Announce Economy, Business and Jobs Caucus

HARRISBURG, June 7, 2010 - - State Senators Lisa Boscola and Bob Mensch today announced the creation of an Economy, Business and Jobs Caucus aimed at spurring innovative initiatives to create and sustain jobs in Pennsylvania.

Boscola and Mensch will co-chair the caucus, which was unveiled at a Capitol news conference earlier today.

"We cannot sit idly by and continue to watch Pennsylvania jobs move out of state or out of the country," Boscola said.  "This jobs caucus will work to create an environment where businesses can thrive and flourish, and in turn expand their workforce."

The bipartisan Economy, Business and Jobs Caucus will consider innovative legislative solutions that will foster economic development and create family-sustaining jobs throughout Pennsylvania.

"The introduction of the Economy, Business and Jobs Caucus is the first step in a long journey," said Mensch.  "It is important that representatives of business and unions, consultants and legislators are able to come together to share ideas that will benefit the Commonwealth in a positive way."

Other participants today's news conference included Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Richard Bloomingdale; Gene Barr, vice president of Government and Public Affairs for the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry; and Joseph Henchman from the Tax Foundation in Washington, D.C.

Boscola and Mensch said the caucus will meet regularly to determine ways that the state legislature can encourage businesses to relocate to Pennsylvania, retain current businesses, stoke greater economic investment and bring good-paying jobs to cash-strapped Pennsylvania families.
