Senator Mensch to Serve on Five Senate
Committees
Appointed Vice Chairman of Public Health and Welfare panel
Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati recently appointed Senator Bob Mensch
(R-24) to serve on five Senate Committees including a role as Vice Chairman of
the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee.
"I look forward to working with the Public Health and Welfare Committee,"
Senator Mensch said. "Since the committee oversees the Department of Health and
the Department of Welfare, its actions significantly impact the quality of life
of many citizens across the state."
Senator
Mensch will also serve as a member of four other Senate Committees:
Communications and Technology; Game and Fisheries; Rules and Executive
Nominations; and, Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee.
"These are
excellent assignments. Our region is a target area for the development of
high-tech businesses, which is a key role of the Communications and Technology
Committee. As a fellow veteran, I understand the needs of the substantial number
of veterans living in the district and I can be an advocate for their interests
as a member of the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. In
addition, I know from my work with the Unami Watershed Conservancy the
importance of preserving outdoor recreational opportunities. That's something I
will keep in mind as a member of the Game and Fisheries Committee."
Senator
Mensch expressed particular pleasure with his assignment to the Rules and
Executive Nominations Committee.
"This is a
very important committee with two major roles," Senator Mensch said. "First,
this committee must approve nominations by the Governor for major positions such
as cabinet secretaries before they can be considered for confirmation by the
full Senate. Secondly, the committee must also approve all Senate bills that are
sent back with amendments by the House of Representatives before they can come
up for a concurrence vote."
While
Senator Mensch is looking forward to serving on the above-mentioned committees,
he remains committed to upholding the level of excellence, in all areas of
government, he has provided to his constituents in the past. |
